Milford – William “Bill” Schutte, Exec Vice Pres and Dennis Mooney, Sr. Vice Pres for Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Wilkins & Associates delivered 162 hams totaling 1,620 pounds to three of the major Pocono food banks on December 18th. This delivery was the largest in the 9 years that the Wilkins Organization has been delivering food to the needy at Christmas time.
Said Bill Schutte, “First, we want to thank Key Foods of Milford, PA for selling us the hams at cost as well as donating a sizeable number of hams. The money for the hams came from our Sunshine Fund. Our Sunshine Fund is made up of donations from our Realtors, Employees and Managers of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Wilkins & Associates and NEPA Management Associates.”
Approximately 15 years ago the Wilkins’ Sunshine Fund was created by the BHG and NEPA Supervisors. The Wilkins’ companies raised the money through raffles, auctions, a car show, dress-down day and also auctions at the monthly Agent Sales Meetings. This year a record amount of money was donated.
Said Dennis Mooney, Sr. Vice Pres., “When we started delivering to the food banks 9 years ago, I had a couple hams in the back of my Jeep; and the food banks were ecstatic to receive that. Today, to deliver that many hams to food banks in Mount Pocono, Bushkill and Milford was a feeling that I simply cannot describe. The food banks were so grateful.”
Schutte further stated, “Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Wilkins & Associates and NEPA Management Associates consider themselves very community minded companies. Not only do BHG and NEPA donate to food banks, there are a number of other charities, organizations and events that Realtors, Managers and employees donate to in an effort to “give back” to the community that supports us. Real Estate and Property Management is a local business, dealing with local people and providing a local service.”
“The charity, food bank or other organizations that we donate to each year are chosen by our Supervisors.” said Thomas R. Wilkins, CEO. “For the last 9 years our Supervisors have chosen to donate to food banks. I think that’s because we were touched so greatly when we served food at a local church and saw first-hand the need for those services. It was something I personally will never forget.” Wilkins further stated.
